JACK
SAMPSON

I co-founded a SaaS product now running in real Discord communities, built a ground station that decodes live aircraft signals beside one of the busiest air-cargo hubs on earth, and I'm training for my Private Pilot License. Same instinct every time: learn the whole stack, then ship.

Technical Milestones

Keystone

Co-founded and shipped a live SaaS product used by real Roblox roleplay communities.

KR4FLI

FCC HAM Technician License. Licensed amateur radio operator.

PPL

Actively training for a Private Pilot License at Bowman Field, Louisville.

Supabase Discord Bot Web Dashboard Product & GTM

A Discord bot and web dashboard built for Emergency Response: Liberty County roleplay communities on Roblox, a large, active niche with real operators running paid servers. I co-founded it and work across the whole stack: product decisions, backend architecture, UI, and go-to-market.

The backend runs on Supabase, with schema design and RPC work built around how Discord communities actually operate. Two features set it apart from the market incumbent: proximity-based voice routing that mimics realistic radio range, and staff accountability metrics that give community owners visibility they've never had before. The dashboard also ships Keystone Flows, a block-based visual automation builder with its own block vocabulary and safety governors, a no-code workflow engine built for non-technical server operators.

I also ran marketing and designed the branding, including a custom pixel-art mascot character (canvas-rendered with animations and a full sprite-sheet export pipeline) and the launch video. Those are just a couple of examples; there's a lot more behind the scenes.

Self-Directed Engineering

Signals, Hardware & the Sky

Aviation shows up in everything I build. It's often the reason I taught myself an entire stack, from RF front-ends to flight software.

01 / SIGNALS

ACARS Ground Station

Built a working station to decode ACARS aircraft-to-ground data messages near Louisville's SDF airport, home to the UPS Worldport hub, one of the busiest air-cargo environments in the world. Paired with a Node.js dashboard and automated Discord alerting for real-time traffic.

02 / RF & SDR

Radio Experimentation

Hands-on work with RTL-SDR, ADS-B aircraft tracking, and NOAA weather-satellite reception. Licensed FCC HAM Technician, callsign KR4FLI.

03 / AERIAL

Drone & Mapping

Drone photographer flying a DJI Mini 4K, working toward FAA Part 107 certification. Researches controlled-airspace operations (Class C around Madison's KMSN, LAANC authorization) and is scoping a long-range mapping UAV alongside photogrammetry and Gaussian-splatting pipelines for 3D reconstruction.

04 / HARDWARE

Electronics & PCB Design

ESP32 and WS2812B addressable LED projects, including surface-mount soldering and custom PCB design. CAD work done in Autodesk Fusion 360.

Aviation

Where It All Points

Aviation is the throughline behind almost everything above. It's the reason the radios, the drones, and the ground station exist in the first place.

Private Pilot Training

Actively training for a Private Pilot License at Bowman Field in Louisville, Kentucky.

VATSIM Air Traffic Control

Volunteer air traffic controller on VATSIM, the world's largest online flight-simulation network, working simulated traffic under real-world ATC procedures, phraseology, and airspace protocols.

Flight Club 502

Supported operations and events for the Louisville-area aviation community.

Beyond the Build

Leadership & Recognition

I lead a squad within Fellowship of Christian Athletes, guiding small-group discussions on character and leadership within a student community that draws 30–50 participants on peak days. I build web projects with the global student developer community at Hack Club, and earlier engineering competition work earned Future Cities Kentucky's Leonard Structural Engineering Award and SAME Public Service Award.
